Suppliers rarely explain their numbering scheme, but the pattern is consistent within a brand. Once you can read it, you can order from a photo of a nameplate.
The usual segments
Most schemes run family, then size, then rating, then finish, then a revision or packaging suffix. Treat the segments as fields rather than one long string.
- Family/model prefix — the product line
- Size — pipe or thread size, often in 1/16 or metric increments
- Rating — temperature, pressure or K-factor
- Finish/coating code
- Suffix — revision, region or case pack
Searching a partial number
You rarely have the whole string. Our search matches partial part numbers and SKUs, so type the fragment you can read and filter by brand from the results. Dashes and spaces are ignored on the way in.
When two numbers look identical
A single trailing character usually separates finish or packaging. Compare the two candidates side by side rather than guessing — the spec table shows exactly which field differs.
